The MACBA incorporates new spaces and reform existing

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA ) was born in 1995 in the context of a profound reform of the urban district of Raval . From the beginning , its location in the center of the city of Barcelona has been a privilege for a contemporary art museum that wants to be part of the intellectual , social and economic transformation of their environment.
In 2013, eighteen years after its inauguration under the urban renewal of El Raval , the City Council has given the Museu d’Art Barcelona Contemporary buildings Convent dels Angels a space totaling 1,796 sq meters creating a total 20,000 for ‘ universo’ MACBA. Moreover, it has reserved the lot occupied by the Montealegre Capella Street for future expansion , which has been a profound reflection on the whole that will broaden and diversify the uses of the museum.
